Summer Keyboarding Camp For Kids 2016
Why the need for Keyboarding skills and training?
Keyboarding is becoming more and more of a standard skill needed and used regularly. The goal of this camp is to provide a comfortable and receptive environment where children can acquire these keyboarding skills. Being familiar and comfortable with typing can aid with concentration, reduce the stresses associated with school work and assist the child in recognizing and identifying his/her own accomplishments. Many students with a learning disability have difficulties with fine-motor, visual-motor and visual spatial tasks. Our leaders are trained to understand and guide children through the process with sensitivity to their individual needs. This camp offers a “go at your own speed” opportunity for children to learn the essentials of keyboarding.
Our week long camp sessions will:
- Teach keyboarding technique, accuracy and speed
- Use software that engages the student and reinforces continued practice.
- Include lessons, games, and exercises.
- Be taught through easy to follow directions and systematic, clear feedback about performance.
- Consider learning styles and accommodations to obtain successful skills.
- Safe and nurturing environment.
Campers will also participate in Arts and Crafts, Recreational activates, and Cooking!

“I appreciate the great experience your counsellors provided for my son at the computer camp. He learned a lot and had fun doing so. This is not an easy accomplishment, as you know. He was given a great introduction to Kurzwiel and is looking forward to using it, which is fabulous! Also, his typing skills have improved and we will continue to build on these skills throughout the year. Thank you to all the wonderful staff who contributed to my son’s positive experience at camp.” Barb “Both of my sons have attended the LDATD summer typing camp. One had learning disabilities and the other did not. Both benefited from the small classes and learned to type properly. The staff was cheerful and professional.” Jean
