Ontarians with Disabilities Act

The Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA) received Royal Assent on December 14, 2001 and all sections of the Act were proclaimed by September 2002. In August 2002 the Ministry of Citizenship published "A Guide to Annual Accessibility Planning under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001." To view this guide, please click here.

The document was distributed to school boards in the spring of 2003, and school boards are required to complete their first year accessibility plans by September 30, 2003. They are not required to submit their accessibility plans to the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario at this time, but the Directorate will be doing an audit of boards around the province to see how the first year plans are going.
